Being a little further away from the regular turist areas we get the chance to enjoy the pristine nature that surrounds the house as well as experience the local life. If we're lucky, a monkey might be looking in through the window as we wake up and everyday we enjoy the sounds of the city temples, churches and mosques surrounding Mukkunnimala. In the evenings the big balconies give a serene ending to warm days with stars glittering in the skies and sounds of swaying trees, insects, animals and humans alike to meditate by.

Kerala is, together with Tamil Nadu, the most southern of Indias 25 states. In a map it can be seen as 60km (38 900km2) narrow strip at the western coast line. With a population of almost 32 million (acc. to census 2001). The capital city is Thiruvanthapuram (also known as Trivandrum) with its population of around 1.1 million (acc. to census 2006) is the capital but Cochi and Kozhikode are also described as some of Keralas major cities.
Kerala has it's own language: Malayalam, and it is one of Indias many official languages.
India is, as a country, a very popular tourist destination and each part offering very different environments. The bigger, more well known citites like Mumbai (Bombay) and Delhi (New Delhi) lie in the northern parts, while the southern areas are more well known for places like Goa and Kerala with their beaches and nature. Also the food varies greatly depending on area. Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Tikka, which India is probably most well known for, has its roots in northern India and can be hard to find in the southern menus. The southern cuisine has its own distinct taste and is according to us, for obvious reasons, the tastier cuisine.
